The Tractor Boys look to be keen on splashing some of the Hutchinson cash on Walle Egeli
Ipswich Town are plotting to bring Norwegian wonderkid Sindre Walle Egeli to Portman Road, and have launched a bumper eight-figure transfer offer in a bid to land the teen.
The Tractor Boys are looking to bolster their options further in the final third, having already landed Ajax forward Chuba Akpom, but that is as far as it has gone for them so far this summer, although Como striker Ivan Azon is on the verge of being loaned to the club for the remainder of the campaign.
Kieran McKenna now has a vacancy to fill in the attacking midfield area though thanks to Omari Hutchinson's £37.5 million move to Nottingham Forest, and the Suffolk outfit are looking to make a statement in a big way.
According to reports from Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Ipswich are in talks to strike a deal for up and coming winger talent Sindre Walle Egeli.
It is claimed that Town have submitted an offer that is worth up to €20 million (£17.3 million) for the 19-year-old, which would be up there with some of the record Danish Superliga transfer fees in recent years if it is accepted.
Journalist Farzam Abolhosseini claims that the bid Ipswich have submitted is around FC Nordsjælland's valuation, but they are yet to accept Town's transfer bid for the teenager, with some "kinks" needing to be sorted before Walle Egeli is handed permission to head to England.
After scoring 14 times in 12 appearances for Nordsjælland's youth team in the U19 Boys League in the 2023-24 season, Walle Egeli had a breakout year at first-team level in 2024-25, scoring nine times and assisting a further eight goals in all competitions.
Walle Egeli, who is also capable of playing as a centre-forward, has started the current Superliga season with one goal and two assists from five appearances, but the left-footed right-winger could now be on the move away from Scandinavia and setting foot in the Championship.
There is somewhat of an embarrassment of riches in attack for Kieran McKenna, with the aforementioned Akpom adding to George Hirst, Sammie Szmodics, Jack Clarke, Conor Chaplin, Jaden Philogene, Wes Burns and Chiedozie Ogbene as players whose main position is either a striker or one of the three behind the lone centre-forward.
However, with Hutchinson leaving for pastures new, there's a space to fill despite the wide options at McKenna's disposal, and Walle Egeli could fill that for a number of years.
One thing Ipswich lack is a left-footed winger, with all of their current options' strongest foot being their right. Walle Egeli though would fit the Hutchinson mould as a left-footer, and despite still being in his teens, he's proven to be a top winger in a league that is producing many young stars that go on to be sold for big money, and if Ipswich can iron out small details, then the Norway international will be the latest big-money exit from Denmark.
