Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Ivorian midfielder Abdoul Ouattara from Strasbourg on a five-year contract.
The 20-year-old joins Gary O’Neil’s side for a reported £17 million, becoming the latest addition to an ambitious summer rebuild ahead of Ipswich’s return to the Premier League.
Ouattara already has valuable experience at the top level, having made 45 appearances in Ligue 1 for Strasbourg. He also played a key role in the French club’s run to the UEFA Conference League semi-finals last season, featuring 10 times and scoring twice in the competition.
The versatile youngster is capable of playing in midfield as well as across the defence, giving O’Neil another flexible option within his squad. The pair worked together at Strasbourg last season, making the move to Portman Road a reunion.
He will now turn his attention to the new Premier League campaign, with Ipswich opening their season at home to Sunderland on August 22.
