Former England Under-21 and Nottingham Forest striker Sam Surridge has committed his long-term future to Nashville after signing a contract extension that will keep him with the MLS side through the 2027-28 season, with an option for a further year.
Surridge, who was linked with a move to Ipswich Town during the January transfer window, has instead pledged his future to Nashville after establishing himself as one of the league’s most prolific forwards since arriving from the Premier League in July 2023.
Last season he went toe-to-toe with Miami’s Lionel Messi for the MLS equivalent of the Golden Boot.
“Ever since I arrived in Nashville, the love and support from the fans and the club have made it feel like home, and I am delighted to extend my contract,” said Surridge.
“From my debut against Club América to winning the U.S. Open Cup last season, these memories motivate me to achieve even more and create additional history with the team. We have a special group that can achieve great things this season and in the future, and I am proud and excited to be part of the club moving forward.”
The former Bournemouth and Stoke City striker enjoyed a record-breaking campaign last season, finishing as a Landon Donovan MLS MVP finalist and earning All-Star honours.
He set multiple Nashville records, including the most MLS goals in a single season with 25, the most goals across all competitions in a campaign with 31, and the most goals scored in a single match with four. In total, he has registered 52 goals and 10 assists in 88 appearances for the club.
Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs said the new deal reflects Surridge’s growing importance to the team.
“Sam has been a key contributor to our club’s success, and pledging his future to the club demonstrates how important a figure he is to Nashville SC,” Jacobs said. “We are excited for Sam to continue to pursue club and individual honours here with us.”
Before his move to Major League Soccer, Surridge featured across English football with Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Swansea City and Stoke City, developing a reputation as a powerful and clinical forward.
Despite strong interest from Ipswich earlier this year, the new agreement signals Nashville’s intent to build around the former England youth international as they target further success in the seasons ahead.
