Iris Sesso, Corinthians’ women’s football director, will represent the club at the FIFA Elite Women’s Football Roundtable in Mallorca, Spain.
The club said in a statement that Corinthians will be the only Latin American representative at the meeting. It previously took part in December in Zurich, also through Sesso.
FIFA currently runs a women’s football development programme that has been extended to 2027, the year Brazil hosts the next Women’s World Cup. Support ranges from scholarships for coaches and players to commercial strategy and other key growth areas.
This year FIFA staged the inaugural Copa das Campeãs, bringing together continental champions from the last cycle. Corinthians represented South America and finished runners-up after a 3-2 extra-time defeat to Arsenal of England.
The Brabas could return to a FIFA competition later this year. If they win the Libertadores, they would face Barcelona of Spain in the Copa das Campeãs under a new format.
Corinthians are back in action on Saturday at 11:00 at Nubank Parque, a single-leg tie against Palmeiras in the third round of the Copa do Brasil Feminina.
