QPR have struggled for form in the first half of the Championship season.

Gareth Ainsworth oversaw a horrendous start to the campaign, ultimately leading to his sacking in October.

Martí Cifuentes has since turned the tide and helped bring the team closer to safety with some solid results.

However, the team is still in the relegation zone as we start the second half of the term.

The January window provides a chance to make changes to the QPR first team squad, with Cifuentes able to leave his mark on the London club, after Ainsworth oversaw a relatively quiet summer market.

Here we look at what the Hoops’ best XI may look like once the transfer window closes…

GK: Asmir Begovic

Begovic was a great signing brought into the club over the summer, and he has performed well for QPR.

It would be a big surprise if the Hoops looked to replace the shot-stopper so soon.

LB: Kenneth Paal

Paal is one of the first names on the team sheet at Loftus Road.

Barring any sudden transfer interest, it is likely he will remain with the club beyond the January window and play a key role in the side’s relegation battle.

CB: Jake Clarke-Salter

Clarke-Salter has performed well under Cifuentes and will be hoping to further cement his place as a regular starter under the new manager through 2024.

CB: Steve Cook

The experienced centre-back has, when available, proven a very useful addition for the R's.

A leader and solid defensive presence, Cook is part of Cifuentes' best XI.

RB: Reggie Cannon

Cannon has made the transition to English football quite well since joining from Boavista.

The American is now a regular starter under Cifuentes and is likely to remain in the team in the second half of the campaign.

Dozzell has been one of the bright spots of the season in W12.

A cultured midfielder that can be tenacious when he wants to be, the 24-year-old is starting to fulfill his potential.

Field is another experienced member of the team that should play a big role in the team’s relegation battle in 2024.

CM: Tim Iroegbunam

Iroegbunam spent last season on loan at Loftus Road and could make his return to the club this January, with the club showing an interest in re-signing the Aston Villa youngster.

QPR don’t have a lot of money to invest in the team, but the arrival of the midfielder would be a smart way to upgrade an important part of the squad.

LW: Ilias Chair

Chair is one of the most important parts of the team, and QPR will be hoping to hold onto him amid potential interest from elsewhere.

If he stays, then he will play a crucial role in the club’s bid to remain in the Championship.

ST: Rodrigo Muniz

According to Darren Witcoop, Rodrigo Muniz is a transfer target for Cifuenetes, as he looks to bolster the team's attacking options.

Should the Fulham forward arrive, there is no doubt that he will be a regular presence in the side.

RW: Chris Willock

One of the keys to the upturn in fortunes under Cifuentes has been bringing Willock back into the fray.

His talent is beyond doubt and it looks as though the Spaniard may just have found a way to get him back to his best.
