Irvin Cardona has been named the season's first Ligue 2 player of the month after ASSE's flawless August of four wins from four.

According to Le Progres, the LFP announced on Monday that Cardona took 60% of the vote, ahead of teammate Jakob Breum on 25% and Rodez striker Ibrahima Baldé on 15%.

Cardona produced four goals and two assists in four matches across the month.

Breum contributed two goals and two assists before being forced off injured against Grenoble, a 4-0 victory, in the 27th minute of matchday three.

Baldé was even more prolific with five goals in the same spell, missing out on the award but sealing a deadline-day move to Lorient and already scoring in Ligue 1.

It is the fourth time in Cardona's career that he has received this honour.
