Manchester City enter the international break on the back of four consecutive losses in all competitions. The world champions are also in the midst of an injury crisis that has decimated Pep Guardiola’s squad. Good news has been hard to come by at Manchester City over the past week. But is there some good news on the horizon for City? A new report indicates that a massive boost may be on the cards for the world champions.
Lucas Arnold has relayed a report from Graeme Bailey for TBR Football that Manchester City believe Pep Guardiola will make a decision over his future during the international break. Furthermore, TBR Football’s report states that Txiki Begiristain believes that Pep Guardiola will sign a new contract with the world champions. TBR Football further reports that City are confident of signing Guardiola to a new deal. The report from TBR Football adds that City also expect Erling Haaland to sign a new deal with the club.
The importance of Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland to the world champions cannot be understated. Haaland and Guardiola are two of the most important pieces of Manchester City’s set-up. Guardiola is arguably the best manager in world football. His team has become the envy of many over the past seven seasons. Manchester City hopes he will extend his contract with the club for at least until the end of next season. It would be a huge boost to Manchester City if Guardiola did sign a contract extension.
Erling Haaland is Manchester City’s top scorer this season. He is the focal point of City’s attack. Haaland is also Manchester City’s main goal threat, and without him, the champions would struggle in the final third. With Haaland at the club, City possesses one of the most lethal strikers in world football. At 24 years of age, Haaland is at the ideal age for the champions to build their team around. Based on TBR Football’s new report it seems to be only a matter of time before Haaland signs a new deal with the club.
Good news has been fleeting for Manchester City of late. Four consecutive losses and a spate of injuries to key players have dominated the headlines. But the new report from TBR Football does give the impression that good news may be on the way for the world champions. Now it is a waiting game to see if the new report form TBR is on the money and Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland sign contract extensions in the near future.
