Bruno Fernandes was instrumental once again for Manchester United's attack in the 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend with the Portuguese international potentially having his best season yet.

During the game, Fernandes reached 200 goal involvements for the club after scoring his 104th goal on top of his 96 assists.

It should have been 97 assists right at the end of the game when the midfielder found Benjamin Sesko with more time and space in the Spurs area than he realised to then head straight at the goalkeeper.

So far this season, Fernandes has created 74 chances in the Premier League, a whopping 27 more than the second highest chance creator in the top flight, Declan Rice (47 chances created).

With 13 league games left to play for United, Fernandes is only 15 chances created behind his tally for the entire 2021/21 campaign with his current record – although he would need to really get scoring to top his tally of 18 goals in the league for that campaign with the playmaker currently on six so far.

Fernandes' highest number of chances created in a Premier League season is 119 in the 2022/23 campaign. To match that, the United captain would need to average just under three and a half assists per game and he created six against Tottenham, albeit with the visitors playing most of the game with 10 men.

Of those 74 chances created this season, 17 are classified as 'big chances' which in early February is more big chances created than in the entirety of his 2024/25 (16 big chances) and 2021/22 (15 big chances) seasons.

Once again, the 2022/23 season is the benchmark when Fernandes created 32 big chances in total. He'll need to average just over one a game to reach that.

What makes Fernandes' numbers for this season even more impressive is the deeper role he played for much of the season under Ruben Amorim.

Since Amorim's departure under Darren Fletcher and now Michael Carrick, Fernandes has played six while scoring once and making six assists as the midfielder's attacking influence grows further up the pitch.

If he carries on that kind of productivity, it really would be Fernandes' best season for the club to date.
