Former Juventus shot-stopper Rubinho believes Tottenham Hotspur loan star Guglielmo Vicario has all the qualities needed to continue excelling for the Old Lady.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed an impressive introduction to life in Turin since making his summer switch, quickly settling into his new surroundings.

Vicario has ensured that the ball has not found the back of his net in three of his five appearances, underlining the strong impression he has already made between the posts.

Even in Juventus’ defeat against Sassuolo, the Italian earned praise for the passion he showed in the Bianconeri shirt.

With second choice goalkeeper Kamil Grabara ruled out for an extended period after suffering an ACL injury, greater responsibility has now fallen on Vicario to maintain his level of performance.

Grabara started Juventus’ Europa League opener, but Vicario could be handed the nod for the club’s upcoming fixtures in the competition as well.

Meanwhile, the Serie A giants are also closing in on a move for former Arsenal custodian Neto on a free transfer as they look to add further depth to their goalkeeping ranks.

Rubinho has now offered his assessment of Juventus’ decision to sign Vicario, pointing to the goalkeeper’s impressive displays as evidence that he has already justified the faith placed in him and backing him to maintain that level.

Rubinho told Italian outlet Tutto Juve: “Vicario is good; he’s proved his worth in these matches at the start of the season.

“He’s got everything it takes to keep performing well.”

Vicario has revealed that Juventus are his dream club and will be eager to extend his stay beyond this season, although the jury is still out on that, with the remainder of the campaign will shape the decision.

The custodian is currently with the Italy squad for their Nations League fixtures under new boss Roberto Mancini, which starts with Friday’s clash against Belgium.

However, whether Vicario features in any of Italy’s Nations League fixtures remains to be seen, with Manchester City star Gianluigi Donnarumma the preferred option between the posts.

Tottenham will continue to keep close tabs on how Vicario does at Juventus as they eye the Bianconeri signing him permanently.
