Henrik Pedersen is coming under intense scrutiny from Sheffield Wednesday supporters as The Owls stutter but remain second in League One.

Sheffield Wednesday shared a goalless draw with last season’s League One play-off finals Stockport County at Hillsborough, and it is a result that has been followed by may supporters calling for the sacking of manager Henrik Pedersen.

Having been placed into administration last summer, Sheffield Wednesday succumbed to what was an inevitable relegation and return to League One last season.

The Owls now have new ownership with David Storch at the helm but Storch and the new consortium leading the club opted to stick by Pedersen, formerly the assistant to Danny Rohl, who departed for Rangers last summer.

Pedersen has earned plenty of plaudits forthe way in which he conducted himself and acted as an ambassador for the club during their tough time of it last season off the pitch – but questions are now being raised with more and more vigour and confusion as to whether he is cut out to lead Wednesday forward on the pitch.

In the aftermath of Sheffield Wednesday’s goalless draw with Stockport on Saturday afternoon, Pedersen gave an interview in which he was asked questions by BBC reporter Rob Staton that had been provided to Staton from supporters.

In his interview, Pedersen compared The Hatters’ style of play to that of Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League last season, leading to some derision at that comment, as well as his all-round management - that is despite the Owls sitting in second position in the league.

Another fan was bemused that Stockport were being compared to PSG in terms of their style of play.

This suppoter believes chairman David Storch needs to make a decision on Pedersen as soon as possible.

It's not all wanting Pedersen out though - although this fan is concerned about the lack of goals since the recent thrashing of Bromley.

Another supporter thinks that Wednesday did not set up for the win against Stockport, and that the tactics need to be 'braver' and more front-footed.

Whilst this fan is of the belief that works needs to be done with the current crop of strikers, who are proving to be rather toothless as it currently stands in-front of goal.

While the reaction to that post-match interview has been a wholeheartedly and almost exclusively negative one, there is still a feeling that Wednesday should provide more time and patience to Pedersen.

Given the situation at the club last season, this is the first month of football in which Wednesday have played football and been able to operate with a full focus on the pitch.

That first month has come up after the South Yorkshire outfit brought in 18 new signings, be it permanently or on loan, during a much-needed busy summer transfer window.

That amount of turnaround in the squad is always going to need time for players to gel – especially when it comes after such a tumultuous year for the club.

As well as a bit more patience being shown given the off-field turbulence now easing and Wednesday beginning to find stability and look forward; it also has to be acknowledged that even if Wednesday had previously been a healthy and stable club, it has been a more than reasonable start.

Among those 18 new signings were some real stars of League One from previous seasons, especially in attack, with the likes of Louie Barry, Mason Burstow and Davis Keillor-Dunn joining alongside the returning Barry Bannan.

Henrik Pedersen does now what would appear to be a stacked squad at his disposal and so concerns that he is not getting the best out of them just yet would be fair as Wednesday supporters would not want to see their talent go to waste.

However, albeit frustrated with back-to-back goalless draws against Wigan Athletic and Stockport at home recently, the second of which coming against a team that have finished third in each of the last two seasons, The Owls remain second in the division with just one defeat in seven matches – that coming against league leaders and last year’s play-off semi-finalists Bradford City.

A 7-2 defeat of Bromley showcased the capabilities of this Wednesday squad from an attacking perspective with away wins at Leyton Orient, Wycombe Wanderers and Peterborough United highlighting their nous and experience, too.

It may well have been a slow start in terms of their performance level and a lot of Wednesday supporters believe a change should now be made already; it is surely to early for that to happen just yet.
