Liverpool kick off their Carabao Cup campaign in a heavyweight third-round tie with struggling Tottenham tonight.
It’s been stop-start for Andoni Iraola in his first weeks in charge as Reds boss, with Saturday’s drab goalless draw at home to Fulham stunting momentum picked up from back-to-back wins over Ipswich and Atletico Madrid.
However, things have been far more bleak for Roberto De Zerbi’s big-spending Spurs, who are yet to score a goal in the Premier League this season.
Spurs will hope to take inspiration from their only triumph of the new campaign so far, a 5-1 thrashing of Charlton in this competition’s previous round, and pull off something of a shock at Anfield.
Liverpool’s third-round tie with Tottenham in the Carabao Cup kicks off at 8pm BST at Anfield.
Viewers in the UK will be able to watch the match for free on ITV4, with coverage starting at 7:30pm BST. It can also be streamed on ITVX.
Alternatively, fans can watch the match on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football, with coverage starting at 7pm BST. If you’re not a Sky customer, you can grab a NOWTV Day Pass here to watch without a subscription.
Liverpool will likely rotate from the squad that looked lethargic against Fulham. Cody Gakpo, back from injury, could lead the line, while Iraola confirmed Joe Gomez is fit again. Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to start between the sticks.
Tottenham’s Andy Robertson will make an emotional return to Anfield for his new club, while Pedro Porro remains a doubt at right-back after missing the Everton draw. Richarlison has been snubbed from the squad amid his dispute with the club.
Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili; Frimpong, Araujo, Gomez, Tsimikas; Mac Allister, Nyoni; Ngumoha, Koumas, Munoz; Gakpo.
