Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones played down fears of dressing room split after Mohamed Salah’s explosive comments about head coach Arne Slot.

Insisting the squad remains united behind the Dutchman despite the growing uncertainty surrounding the egyptian’s future.

The recent fallout from Mohamed Salah's exclusion from Tuesday's Champions league match against Inter Milan.. a tactical decision by manager Arne Slot fueled speculation of rift within the squad.

However following Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Milan, Jones clarified that the team stands firmly behind Slot.

Jones clears dressing room air

“We always support the manager” said Jones when asked whether the squad backs Slot. “He is human at the end of the day. If we lose, it affects him and it affects all of us the same way it affects the fans”

Jones emphasised that Slot brought tactical ideas and energy to the team adding:

“He is as hungry as ever. The style changed a bit but we're all with him and he is with us”..

Despite the tension surrounding Salah , Jones refused to criticise the Egyptian or speculate on his situation.

“Mo's his own man. I can’t really speak on another man and his business” said the midfielder.. “Everyone knows how much of legend he is”

While the win eased pressure on Slot, Jones insisted it does not erase their recent inconsistency.

“It’s only one game” he warned. “The last one at Leeds we were 2-0 up and drew. But the mindset has changed”

Jones joked about the tactical changes Slot made smiling as he said:

“I think it works because I’m playing” He then added more seriously: “It’s a way of getting all the lads involved and keeping things fresh”

Szoboszlai echoes Jones

Hungary international Dominik Szoboszlai who scored the late winning penalty, also moved to cool talk of internal conflict.

“It’s nothing to do with the players” he said. “It’s him and his own choice with what he does with his career. Would we like him to stay? That’s not our decision”

Szoboszlai also described Salah as “a great human & a friend” reaffirming the squad’s respect for the Liverpool icon.
