After needing staples on a laceration sustained in Borussia Dortmund’s draw against Hamburg, Nico Schlotterbeck’s inclusion for Germany against Luxembourg on Friday will be made at the final minute.
Speaking at Monday’s press conference, Julian Nagelsmann spoke on Schlotterbeck’s injury: “It swelled up quite a bit overnight and, to be honest, his foot doesn’t look too good.”
Should Schlotterbeck recover in time, then the Dortmund central-defender will likely start alongside Jonathan Tah. If not, then BVB teammate Waldemar Anton will likely take the 25-year-old’s place.
Nagelsmann will hold a final training session on Thursday morning and if Schlotterbeck features, then it’s likely that he will play some part against Luxembourg.
One player that Nagelsmann will be without though is Karim Adeyemi, who is serving a suspension after accumulating three yellow cards, suspending him for Friday’s game.
Nadiem Amiri has also withdrawn from the German national team through injury, which has seen a first call-up for RB Leipzig’s Assan Ouédraogo.
