Gokulam Kerala defender, Muhammed Uvais is reportedly set to move to Indian Super League (ISL) side, Jamshedpur FC - with reports indicating that the youngster will sign a three-year contract with the club.
Uvais who only signed for Gokulam Kerala in 2021/22 and played a key role in the I-League triumph did not miss a single game for the Malabarians last season and provides them options in defence as he can play both as a centre-back and as a left-back.
“Jamshedpur FC and Gokulam Kerala have agreed a fee of ₹35 lakh for the transfer of Muhammed Uvais. The player will sign a three-year contract with the Men of Steel," a report in Khel Now stated.
The 23-year-old has shown promise through his performance in the I-League and will want to carry on the same in the top-tier league. Uvais has played for clubs like FC Kerala and FC Bengaluru United so far in his career and this will be the defenders debut in the ISL.
Despite Uvais' arrival at the club, the management will need to ensure that they sign more players in the transfer window considering that the likes of Greg Stewart, Mobashir Rahman, Narender Gahlot have all left and they will need to sign replacements for them soon.
