It appears that Manchester City have no time for games in the transfer market

There was always the potential for Manchester City to be bogged down in protracted transfer negotiations during the January transfer window. Typically, it’s a time when clubs don’t want to lose their key players. Selling clubs can also sense the desperation of teams like City to add to their squad. This usually sees clubs raise the transfer fees of their key assets. This situation has appeared to be at play in City’s move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s striker Omar Marmoush. But that may not be the case based on a new report.

Florian Plettenberg reported earlier today via X that there was a sizable gap between City’s and Eintracht Frankfurt’s valuation of Omar Marmoush. Plettenberg had reported that Eintracht Frankfurt valued Marmoush at €80 million. Furthermore, he added that Manchester City valued the Egyptian international at between €50-60 million. This gap in both parties’ valuation of Marmoush had the potential to see City’s attempts to sign one of the Bundesliga’s best attacking become a lengthy process. But now a new report indicates that it may not prove to be the case.

Santi Aouna has reported via X that Manchester City are ready to meet Eintracht Frankfurt’s demands to sign Omar Marmoush. Furthermore, Aouna reports that a verbal agreement is close between both clubs. Aouna goes on to report that Marmoush wants to join Pep Guardiola’s side and is confident of a deal being reached between the two clubs.

Manchester City don’t have time to waste this month and they know this is the case based on Santi Aouna’s report.

Given the timeframe that Manchester City are working with this month, they do not have time to be bogged down by protracted transfer negotiations. That fact becomes more apparent when you consider they the world champions need to strengthen multiple positions this month. What City can not afford is one deal to drag on and potentially scupper another. Based on Santi Aouna’s report it appears that the City hierarchy know this and are acting accordingly.

Simply put Manchester City need another striker. Omar Marmoush ticks this box. The fact that he is also a player who can play in multiple roles up front makes him an ideal addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. It seems that the world champions know this and are willing to quickly conclude a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s top scorer. The sooner they can agree a transfer fee with the Bundesliga side the quicker they can move onto other deals. The fact that they are willing to meet Eintracht Frankfurt’s valuation as per Aouna’s report shows that they aren’t wasting time in January. That’s a wise move by the word champions given how many players they appear to be in the market for.

It appears that Manchester City know that they will have to pay a premium this month to land their transfer targets. It looks like they are willing to do exactly that to sign Omar Marmoush. The quicker they conclude that deal the better. Based on Santi Aouna’s report that is a distinct possibility.
