FC Barcelona and Ansu Fati share a special connection that goes way back. The original heir to the number ‘10’ left behind by Lionel Messi, Fati was always loved at the club. Unfortunately, untimely injuries stalled the Barcelona star’s progression.
With several setbacks constantly hindering him and a lack of opportunities being clear, it was time for the young forward to move on. This summer, he ultimately decided to join AS Monaco and is now under the guidance of Adi Hütter at the Ligue 1 club.
Previously, the Monaco coach gave a promising update on Fati’s return to group training following Monaco’s friendly against Coventry City on the 16th of July:
They are working on their physical structure and balance. We can’t compare the two. I think Ansu is a bit closer to rejoining the team. In Barcelona, he wasn’t able to train as he should have. We’re trying to bring him back up to speed, but we shouldn’t rush it. We’re being careful. Both of them are eager to get back on the pitch. They’ll get closer to that goal in the coming weeks.

However, as highlighted by MARCA, his latest update on the possibility for the Barcelona loanee to be ready for the team’s Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre seems to be worrying:
It could be complicated.
Giving further context, the Monaco coach made it clear that the club wanted to be cautious with the forward from Barcelona and wants to avoid any kind of unwanted relapses in his case:
I want him back as soon as possible, but as we said at the start of the season, we have to be careful with Ansu. We don’t want him to relapse or accumulate more problems.
Instead of rushing him, the Ligue 1 side wants the player to find his rhythm again and be gradually integrated with the squad at his own pace:
We need to get him up to speed. He needs time to recover his rhythm and integrate with the group. It makes no sense to rush him back onto the pitch only for him to get injured or face new issues. We’re doing everything we can for him.
Despite it still being a loan deal, this remains a great opportunity for Ansu Fati to recover his best version. He has struggled to do so in recent years with Barcelona and even Brighton in the Premier League, but Monaco’s care and attention should give him another opportunity to give it his all.
