Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures against Sunderland and Leeds United are massive in regards to the future of Arne Slot.

The Dutchman, who guided the Reds to their 20th league title during his debut campaign on Merseyside last season, is under heavy pressure at the moment having lost nine of his last 12 games.

Sunday’s 2-0 defeat of West Ham at the London Stadium was the ideal start to a run of six games between now and December 20 – including a trip to the San Siro to face Inter Milan in the Champions League and a clash with Spurs in the capital.

“I felt like Liverpool playing West Ham was the toughest of those [current run of] games, because of the nature of the opposition,” the Scouser said during The Overlap Fan Debate (via Express).

“They are a team that have been in the bottom three all season, a promoted team in Sunderland, and Leeds are another promoted team who are in the bottom three.

“It feels like if you don’t get results in those, where do you go? The idea of Liverpool changing the manager who won the league, Liverpool have never done that. Then, who do you get? The idea of an interim manager just feels like, who and how?”

West Ham did not pose much of a threat at the weekend and were brushed aside without the need of a top performance from Slot’s side.

Florian Wirtz returned to the starting XI after injury and had what was probably his best game yet in a Red shirt while Joe Gomez got a long awaited start at right back and did not disappoint.

Mo Salah was an unused substitute against the Hammers and it remains to be seen whether he will get a go from the start at Anfield tomorrow.

The Egyptian King is just one of many Liverpool players struggling for form at the moment.

Despite our dreadful run of form in the past few weeks, the Premier League champions are just three points adrift of the top four and tomorrow provides them with a chance to earn consecutive league victories for the first time since September.
