Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has issued his reaction to the side’s dramatic 4-5 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.

The Norwegian played a central role in one of the most dramatic Premier League matches of the season, as City survived a late comeback from Marco Silva’s side to claim a vital three points in West London.

City looked to be cruising at 5-1 with just over 20 minutes remaining, only for Fulham to launch a remarkable charge that left the away end clinging to the final whistle. A nine-goal contest capped a night where Haaland not only made history, but also delivered a brutal assessment of City’s performance levels.

Haaland’s opener marked his 100th Premier League goal in just 111 appearances – making him the fastest player to reach the milestone – before he created further chances for teammates and helped drive Manchester City’s early dominance. His combination with Phil Foden, Tijjani Reijnders and Jeremy Doku continued to threaten Fulham, yet defensive fragility and a loss of control allowed the hosts back into a game that should have been long secure.

The second half unravelled in chaotic fashion as Fulham scored three times, forcing Pep Guardiola’s side into desperate defending in the final minutes. Despite the win sending City within two points of Arsenal, the manner of the performance left Guardiola and his players with plenty to reflect on.

Speaking to broadcasters after the match from Craven Cottage, Erling Haaland described the contest as a ‘chaos game’ while also insisting that he and his teammates view the performance as ‘not the best’.

“If you’re sitting at home now, you enjoyed that game,” Haaland reacted from full-time. “It was a chaos game, nine goals in a game is a lot. In the end, we win and we’re happy. But it’s not the best game.”

Offering some thoughts on City’s recent results, the Norwegian striker said, “The reality is we lost against Newcastle and [Bayer] Leverkusen, and now we won two in a row.

“So we need to keep going, it’s a tough schedule, it’s many games now in the next month. So game by game, and recover as best as possible.”

And with Manchester City moving to within just two points of Arsenal before Mikel Arteta’s side take to the field themselves, Haaland said, “We shouldn’t think too much about Arsenal.

“We should focus on ourselves, try to improve, and avoid things like this happening today because it’s not good enough and we all know this. We need to improve as a team, that’s what our focus should be.”

Erling Haaland’s assessment will resonate with Guardiola, who cut a frustrated figure in the technical area as City lost control of the match. With fixtures arriving rapidly this winter, maintaining standards in both boxes will be essential if City are to keep pace with Arsenal.

Manchester City’s defensive lapses may prompt Guardiola to consider rotation or tactical adjustments ahead of the weekend, particularly with squad depth being stretched by injuries across midfield.

Haaland’s form, however, continues to be a reassuring constant, breaking records while demanding more from those around him. What happens next will depend largely on whether City can restore their usual composure and control, especially with difficult fixtures looming.
