FC Barcelona have steadily increased their scouting network, when it comes to talented young prodigies, aiming to get ahead of the curve and sign potential superstars for the future. One such name being discussed is Andreas Schjelderup.

The 21-year-old Benfica winger, has now made it clear that a move to Barca would be very attractive to him. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are continuing to study options out wide as they shape next season’s squad.

The report says Marcus Rashford and Pedro Neto are already on the radar, but Schjelderup is another profile being watched closely. The key detail is the player’s own reaction.

Schjelderup was asked about the possible interest by Danish channel TV2 as quoted by MD. His first response was:

“I did not know.”

Schjelderup added:

“It would be fantastic if it is true.”

This is very clearly a come-get-me-call from the 21-year-old. Barca are not in a position to chase every attacking target freely, so knowing a player would view the move positively always helps if a situation develops further.

Schjelderup is under contract with Benfica until 2028. He has posted seven goals and four assists in 36 matches this season. Benfica are an excellent selling club and won’t be doing the Catalan club any favors.

Barcelona need a new winger. Whether it is signing Rashford permanently or going for a younger option remains to be seen and let’s wait and see how things play out on Schjelderup’s front in the coming months.
