Italian actor Luca Zingaretti has criticised Paolo Di Canio and Luca Marchegiani after they questioned Roma’s late penalty against Parma.

Roma’s spot-kick sealed a 3-2 comeback on Sunday. Referee Daniele Chiffi overturned his initial call after a pitchside review of Devyne Rensch and Sascha Britschgi, penalising the Parma defender and issuing a second yellow.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, Di Canio and Marchegiani argued it was not a penalty and said VAR should not have intervened.

Beppe Bergomi and Alessandro Costacurta took the opposite view, arguing Britschgi’s shirt pull justified the decision.

Zingaretti, a well-known Roma supporter, responded on Instagram, suggesting the two former Lazio players were too bitter to assess a penalty awarded to Roma fairly.
