Remember when José Mourinho was involved in a touchline fracas with Chelsea coach Marco Ianni earlier this season and everyone lost their shit?
That was nothing compared to what youâre about to see.
On Tuesday, Giancarlo Favarin â coach of Italian Serie C side Lucchese â was handed a five-month ban for head-butting a member of an opposing teamâs staff and telling a player to break an opponentâs legs.
The incident took place during a brawl at the end of a 2-2 draw between Lucchese and Alessandria on Sunday and when you see the footage, youâll understand why the shaven-headed Favarin has been disciplined so strongly.
Serie Câs disciplinary tribunal said in a statement that Favarin made âblasphemous remarksâ during the match and âinvited his own player to âbreak the legsâ of an opponent.â
He also âbegan a slanging match with a member of the opposing teamâs staff at the peak of which he hit the latter with a violent head-butt, making him fall to the ground.â
And Gaetano Mancino â the man on the receiving end of Favarinâs head-butt â has himself been handed a two-match ban for âoffensive and provocative behaviour towards the coach of the rival team during the match.â
