La Gazzetta dello Sport delivered a scathing assessment of Inter Milan and the 3-1 defeat at Napoli, praising Antonio Conte for restoring intensity and hunger.
Meanwhile Inter were accused of a self-inflicted collapse, via FCInterNews.
The paper underlined that Inter arrived on a seven-match winning streak and had the chance to overtake Milan.
However, Inter instead “handed the stage” to their former coach, who managed the emergency and the match with clarity.
GdS argue that while Inter can complain about the controversial penalty, the real damage was done by their own errors, calling the performance “an Inter against themselves.”

The newspaper attacked the defensive phase, describing the back line as disorganised, “scattered like dice on the pitch” for McTominay’s goal, and later “opened up like butter” on Anguissa’s decisive strike.
The midfield was labelled too soft, offering “no screen and no protection.”
The most alarming point, according to GdS, is that Chivu’s challenge now mirrors Inzaghi’s.
Inter need the right head, attitude and emotional control – every game, not occasionally.
The paper noted that Inter started well, pressed high and created danger.
However, they “switched off, switched back on, and then lost balance again.”
This turned a winnable contest into a collapse of focus and structure.
The warning from GdS is blunt: Inter remain the strongest anti-Inter – the only team capable of stopping themselves.
