Nicolò Barella has once again moved centre stage at Inter Milan, with the midfielder now being celebrated as the club’s undisputed “assist king”.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Barella’s latest contribution against Parma, where he sent Marcus Thuram through on goal at the Tardini, brought his total to 66 assists in an Inter shirt.

It is a landmark figure that underlines his decisive role in the modern history of the club.

The newspaper notes that it is difficult to trace comparable numbers too far back.

However, from the year 2000 onwards only Álvaro Recoba had previously reached the same tally.
