Midfielder Davide Frattesi has become “another starter” for Inter Milan with his impressive performance against Udinese in Serie A.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Midfielder Frattesi got his second start of the season for Inter in Sunday’s Serie A win over Udinese.

Injury played a big role in the 25-year-old getting his chance.

Nicolo Barella was not available due to a thigh strain. That injury should rule Barella out until the international break later next month.

Frattesi therefore lined up on the right of Inter’s midfield trio at the Bluenergy Stadium over the weekend.

Moreover, the Italian international is likely to get more chances.

Inter take on Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League tomorrow. Then, there is next weekend’s Serie A match against Torino.

Davide Frattesi Becomes “Another Starter” At Inter Milan In Serie A Clash Vs Udinese

So far in his Inter career, Frattesi has certainly made his contribution.

The former Sassuolo midfielder, has, however, played far more often from the bench than as a starter.

And in most of the matches where Frattesi has started, he has not exactly made the most of his opportunities.

Inter have not had the same midfield balance with the 25-year-old on the pitch as is the case when more senior midfielders like Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are playing.

That was true in Inter’s Serie A draw away to Monza earlier this month.

Frattesi started that match, and put in a relatively anonymous performance in the heart of Inter’s midfield.

Therefore, there was some worry that it would be the same story against Udinese over the weekend.

However, Frattesi dispelled any such doubts immediately.

The 25-year-old scored before a minute had run off the clock.

And that was just the beginning of Frattesi’s performance. The Italian international was a decisive influence for Inter in the midfield battle.

Now, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will be thinking that Frattesi is ready to compete for a starting spot in midfield.
