Italy face World Cup play-off injury concerns, with Scamacca ruled out and Bastoni a doubt for the semi-final.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Scamacca has sustained a right adductor injury, so he will miss Atalanta’s match against Hellas Verona tomorrow and withdraw from Italy’s squad for next week. While his recovery timeframe is unclear, he will not be available until March 31, when Italy hope to contest the final against Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bastoni has a bruised fibula and will miss Inter’s match against Fiorentina tomorrow.

He remains in doubt for the semi-final against Northern Ireland on March 26, although he has not pulled out of the Azzurri squad.

Inter coach Cristian Chivu is expected to provide an update at his pre-match press conference later today.
