European champions Italy dropped points for the second consecutive game after missing a penalty in a frustrating 0-0 draw in Basel.
The Italians had the perfect chance to take the lead on 52 minutes when they were awarded a penalty but Jorginho was denied from 12 yards out by the inspired Yann Sommer.
Sommer had earlier stood up strong to keep out Domenico Berardi when the forward went through on goal.
Scorers: Lukaku 8′, Hazard 41′, Saelemaekers 63′.
Belgium moved five points clear at the top of their group after comprehensively beaten second-placed Czech Republic.
Romelu Lukaku, making his 100th appearance for Belgium, fired his country in-front when he ran on to Hans Vanaken’s through ball before sliding past Tomáš Vaclík.
Eden Hazard doubled the lead just before time when he was set up by a back-heel form Vanaken before placing the ball into the corner of the net from inside the area.
Alexis Saelemaekers was the beneficiary of another smart team move when he was played through on goal to add a third midway through the second half.
Scorers: Gayá 14′, Soler 25′, Torres 41′, Sarabia 63′.
Spain got over their shock defeat to Sweden in style by thumping Georgia 4-0 in Badajoz.
José Gayá’s deflected shot opened the floodgates before Carlos Soler side-footed home at the near post after being found by Marcos Llorente.
Ferran Torres kept up his goal-laden start to the season with a toe-poked effort from close range for the third before Pablo Sarabia finished off a clinical counter-attack with a neat finish from eight yards out.
More to follow.
Scorers: Gnabry 6′, 15′, Reus 35′, Werner 44′, Hofmann 52, Adeyemi 90+1.
Germany knocked Armenia for six in Hansi Flick’s first home game as head coach of the national team.
Serge Gnabry bagged a brace inside the opening 15 minutes, his first a ferocious right-footed shot into the top corner before he got on to Marco Reus’ inviting ball across goal to side-foot home at the back-post.
Reus then helped himself to a goal with a thumping effort inside the area, and just before half-time Timo Werner tapped in from four yards out to make it two goals in two games for the Chelsea striker.
There was no let up in the second half for Armenia as Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Jonas Hofmann scored his first goal for Germany with a blistering effort from 25 yards out.
Teenager Karim Adeyemi came off the bench to add some gloss to the scoreline with a debut goal.
Scorers: Lingard 18′, 78′ Kane PEN 72′, Saka 85′.
England made it five wins out of five in qualifying after easing to a comfortable 4-0 win over Andorra at Wembley.
Gareth Southgate made 11 changes for the clash, and it was the return of Jesse Lingard which proved to be inspired with the Manchester United midfielder scoring two goals and providing an assist.
The 28-year-old took one touch before firing into the bottom corner after the ball had ricocheted into his path inside the box for his and England’s first goal.
Harry Kane then came off the bench to blast home a penalty before Lingard curled home his second.
Bukayo Saka got on to the end of a chipped cross from Lingard to head home and wrap up the three points five minutes from time.
