Italy have qualified for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 tournament after a convincing 4-0 victory over Finland, finishing top of their Women’s Nations League group.
The Azzurre needed a win to be sure of going through and also ended up taking advantage of the draw between Norway and the Netherlands.
Only the top teams in the eight League A groups would be guaranteed automatic qualification for EURO 2025, so the Nazionale avoid the play-offs.
Coach Andrea Soncin oversaw the 4-0 win over Finland in Bolzano using a 3-5-2 formation without suspended Agnese Bonfantini.
There were goals from Chiara Beccari’s header, Manuela Giuliano with a tap-in, Michela Cambiaghi on the counter and finally a late Nystrom own goal.
Italy concluded the group with nine points, the same as the Netherlands, but with a superior head-to-head record after beating them 2-0 and drawing 0-0.
The competition made up of 16 teams will be staged in Switzerland in July 2025, so Italy now have a whole year to prepare.
