Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno has reportedly given his consent for a move to Napoli, even though Inter Milan made a late attempt to sway him over.

The 25-year-old has been on the Nerazzurri’s radars for quite some time. However, it was the Partenopei who made the concrete attempts to land him this summer.

But while the centre-back appeared to be heading towards Napoli, his agent Beppe Riso dropped a bombshell yesterday by hinting at a possible Inter move.

Riso held successive meetings with Napoli and Inter yesterday evening before dining with his client to discuss their next move. They would either accept Napoli’s offer, or wait for Inter’s proposal.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the agent then had a late-night meeting with Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna.

The transfer guru reveals that Riso informed the Partenopei director of the player’s intention to move forward with the negotiations.

Therefore, the two parties will be looking to iron out the last details in order to find a full agreement.

Di Marzio adds that Napoli have already reached an accord with Torino over a transfer fee. The Southerners will splash 35 million euros in addition to 5 million in bonuses.

For their part, Inter have now plunged into the defenders’ market following Tajon Buchanan’s injury. Simone Inzaghi will revert Carlos Augusto back to his original position as left wingback.

However, this would leave a gap at the back, which explains why the club is seeking a new centre-back.

Nevertheless, Inter are unable to make a move at the moment, as they must first finance the coup through a sale.

Stefan de Vrij has been linked with a transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, but it remains to be seen if the deal will go through.
