Midfielder Davide Frattesi got the start for Inter Milan against Hellas Verona yesterday evening.

The 25-year-old was one of a whopping ten changes that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi made for the match.,

Frattesi allowed Nicolo Barella to get a rest ahead of the second leg of Inter’s Champions League semifinal second leg against Barcelona.

It was hardly the most auspicious performance from Davide Frattesi, however.

The former Sassuolo midfielder lacked his usual urgency.

There were no major errors from Frattesi. However, he was never really able to provide anything decisive to open up the Verona defense.

Frattesi let the match pass him by. The different in level between he and his teammate Barella was clear.

Therefore, if yesterday was an opportunity for Frattesi to show that he belongs at Inter next season, it was one that he largely passed up.
