Still only 17 years old, Ahanor is already regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Italian football. His international future is set to become clearer in the months ahead, as he becomes a key battleground in the rivalry between the Italian and Nigerian national teams.

Of Nigerian descent, Ahanor mainly operates as a left-back but is also comfortable in central defense. Many see him as one of the most promising signings in Serie A from the latest summer transfer window.

According to the Italian site Tutto Atalanta, Gennaro Gattuso, head coach of the Italian national team, personally attended Atalanta’s recent clash with AC Milan to get a firsthand look at the young player’s performance.

Due to ongoing administrative procedures for obtaining Italian citizenship, Ahanor won’t be eligible for international competition until he turns 18 on February 23. Italy is closely monitoring this rising star, determined to secure his commitment before Nigeria steps in.
