Federico Dimarco is not just enjoying the best season of his career with Inter Milan – he is also emerging as one of the most productive creators in European football.
The Italian has already delivered eight assists in Serie A, and no defender has done better through the first 24 matchdays of the campaign, as per the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Widen the lens to Europe’s top five leagues and Dimarco’s output becomes even more striking. In terms of assists, he finds himself alongside an attacking phenomenon like Lamine Yamal.
Only three players across the major leagues have provided more.
Luis Diaz with nine, Bruno Fernandes on 12 and Michael Olise with 15.

None of them, however, operate in the same physically demanding, two-way role as Dimarco, a true wing-back who has also chipped in with six goals.
Domestically, his numbers are even more eye-catching. He leads Serie A for big chances created (21) and overall chances fashioned (59).
Among defenders, he also tops the charts for expected goals (2.6) and shots per 90 minutes (2).
Much of this surge is linked to the tactical shift under Cristian Chivu. Unlike his predecessor, Chivu has moved away from routinely substituting Dimarco around the hour mark.
Now, when he starts, the Italy international is often left on until the closing stages.
Indeed, frequently coming off only around the 85th minute.
With Denzel Dumfries sidelined, Inter’s attacking balance has leaned even more heavily toward Dimarco’s flank, and he has responded by turning that responsibility into elite-level production.
