Estádio dos Amaros in Itápolis stands abandoned, a decade after Oeste quit for Barueri and ended a 95-year bond. According to Globo.com, the club now operates as Osasco Sporting and no longer plays nearby.
The final whistle of a 10 April 2016 draw with XV de Piracicaba proved the ground’s last official act. Since then only periodic council crews trim the pitch to curb dengue and urban pests. The municipality, which owns the ground, did not respond to questions about plans.
Founded in 1921, Oeste left in 2016 citing structure and logistics while in the Paulista elite and Série B. In 2026 it moved again, adopting Osasco as home, blue and white colours and a new crest, cutting ties to Itápolis.
Around Amaros, protest graffiti faces weeds, littered ticket booths and rusting, forced gates. Dugouts are swallowed by vegetation and the old stands, goals and barriers show heavy decay, with the grass the lone element kept in check.
Inside, dressing rooms appear derelict and frequented by homeless people, with only a sofa and an old physiotherapy table left as the structure cracks. Locals speak of losing their team, stadium and Sunday pastime.
Neighbour Edinei Nascimento says matchdays once filled quiet weekends and urges the city to reopen and refurbish the ground so children can play, noting the amateur league has gone. Teenager Marcos Leite, 14, recalls crowds for visiting teams and feels a civic memory has been erased.
