The Seagulls kick-off their Women’s League Cup campaign with a fixture against the Blues at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.
When speaking to the media ahead of the fixture, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić said that he is expecting a competitive game against the Barclays Women’s Championship promotion hopefuls.
“It’ll be a tough game,” Vidošić said. “We played them in the first game of pre-season and it was a tough game for us. It was early days for us but it was a really good game to have at that point in pre-season.
“We know it’ll be tough again. We travel to them, it’s their home ground and they’ll also want to start very well.
“It’s shaping up to be a really good game. We want to get off to a good start but I’m sure they’ll want the same.”
Brighton & Hove Albion return to action just three days on from their latest Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester City. Vidošić believes that his players will favour the quick turnaround.
He said “You love it and hate it because you want that extra time to prepare and get the squad ready but the squad’s in a really good place, we’ve had an excellent training session and all of the girls are buzzing again for matchday. If you ask a player, they’ll always want to play every three days because matchdays are the most fun.”
The Sussex club went down 1-0 at Manchester City on Sunday but Vidošić says that his side have taken positives from their performance.
He said “Although the result wasn’t positive [at the weekend], there was a lot of good stuff to take away. We are a short way into our journey compared to Manchester City who have been doing that for a long time now, so we take the positives and keep building.”
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Women’s League Cup fixture at Birmingham City kicks-off at 7pm this evening.
