Tottenham Hotspur head coach Martin Ho says that his side will face another big test when they play host to London City Lionesses afternoon.

The Lilywhites welcome The Pride to the BetWright Stadium for their latest Barclays Women’s Super League match.

Both sides have started the season well and could challenge at the top end of the Barclays Women’s Super League table. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Ho said that London City Lionesses will provide his side with another stern challenge.

“It’s a big test, but every game now is tough,” Ho said. “We’ve seen that in midweek against Brighton with a new manager and a new look and we faced it against Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and so on.

“We’ve faced tough games. You’ll have to be at your best in every game or you’re going to come up short. We saw that against West Ham in the cup.

“It’s going to be a tough test, but one that we are relishing.”

Going on to discuss London City Lionesses, Ho acknowledged The Pride’s world-class talent, but said that Spurs will be focusing on themselves.

He said “They’ve got individual qualities, you’ve seen that throughout the years they’ve been going. They definitely have more of a balance of youth and older international experience now with the players that they’ve brought in.

“What they have is a breadth of world-class talent in their team, but what we will do is focus on ourselves and what we need to do to apply ourselves to put our imprint on the game. They will need to think about what we are doing as well as what they’re going to do.”

Spurs face London City Lionesses, Chelsea and Arsenal in consecutive games and Ho is confident that his side will keep pushing hard for success.

He said “We can compete against anyone in this league. We have this stigma in this league that only the ‘top three’ are unbeatable, but it’s not what it is and we need to look at it slightly different.

“There’s a difference between ambition and expectation. Our ambitions are always high and will be high to make sure we can achieve what we want to achieve and compete at the top of the table, but the expectation has got to be clear; success isn’t linear all of the time and sustaining long-term success isn’t linear.

“We have to make sure that we keep pushing and evolving as we are and I have no doubt that we will achieve what we want to achieve.”

Tottenham Hotspur’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against London City Lionesses kicks-off at 2pm this afternoon.
