After recently signing a lucrative deal with Adidas, FC Barcelona midfield maestro Pedri attended an event at one of their stores in the Catalan capital earlier today.

During the event, the Spanish international briefly interacted with the media present, discussing various matters ranging from the injury blow to teammate Fermin Lopez to Robert Lewandowski’s departure and the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

On Barcelona’s season and Fermin’s injury

Kicking things off, Pedri expressed his elation at what has been another successful season for Barcelona, with the team winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.

“I’m very happy with the season, with the League and the Super Cup won with Barça, and I’m looking forward to the World Cup,” he commented, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Pedri also revealed an amusing detail about the celebrations: “I arrived at the Ciutat Esportiva wearing a Tenerife Carnival mask and nobody recognised me.”

However, he became more serious when speaking about Fermin’s injury, which has ruled him out of the upcoming World Cup.

“It’s a blow for everyone. I was with him yesterday; missing a World Cup isn’t pleasant, but he’ll give us a lot in the future,” noted Pedri.

On Flick, Lewandowski

Pedri also praised Hansi Flick’s contract extension at Barcelona, which was announced on Monday, with the German tactician renewing until 2028 with an option for another year.

“He has given us the competitiveness we needed,” Pedri stated.

The Spanish international also spoke warmly about Robert Lewandowski’s departure, which was announced over the weekend, saying: “He leaves as a legend.”

On fitness, playing style

Pedri also briefly discussed his style of play with Barcelona, saying: “If you manage to stay calm during the game and don’t rush, you can gain a very important second.

“I always try to stay calm, and my family and teammates help me with their confidence.”

The midfielder also made it clear that he feels physically ready after having endured injury issues in the past.

“I’m at 100% now. People think you play with the World Cup in mind, but that’s impossible. When you play for Barça, you always have to give your all,” he pointed out.

Regarding Spain’s World Cup ambitions, he added: “We all dream of that star, but we know it won’t be easy. In a World Cup, one small detail can knock you out.”

Concluding, Pedri was also asked about Jose Mourinho’s rumoured return to Real Madrid, but answered cautiously, saying:

“It’s not official; when it happens, we’ll talk about it.”
