Huddersfield Town are enjoying a positive moment as a club under Kevin Nagle’s ownership.

The American businessman took over the Terriers in 2023, with his first season as owner ending in relegation to League One.

Things didn’t get much better the following campaign, with Huddersfield failing to fight for the play-offs and ultimately settling for another year in the third-tier.

However, a new dawn rose on the Yorkshire outfit during the summer of 2025, with Lee Grant appointed as the man to lead them forward throughout this season.

In came a raft of talented operators, including the likes of Alfie May, Ryan Ledson and Lynden Gooch, who all looked set to give Grant everything he needed to fight for promotion back to the Championship.

The Terriers have looked competitive during the opening stages of the 2025/26 campaign and there is every chance that come May, they will be well in the promotion hunt.

Another recent slice of positivity was the news that the club have attained complete control of their stadium. The Accu Stadium’s ownership was previously split in a tri-party agreement between Town, Kirklees Council and Huddersfield Giants.

Football League World’s Huddersfield Town fan pundit, Graeme Rayner, believes that this is an excellent move for the Terriers and opens up endless opportunities for them to increase revenue.

“The ownership of the stadium being brought under the club's complete control is a massive positive,” exclaimed Graeme. “For the club to obtain full ownership, it means they can invest in the stadium, the complex and they can retain all of the revenue as well.

“Our new owner, Kevin Nagle, has invested in improvements, but most of those improvements were just getting it back up to the standard it should be rather than kicking on. A new scoreboard recently went up, I understand there's new sound system going in.

“I think it has to be a good thing that it is the club that owns the stadium, it's not owned separately, which is something that happened under the previous owner in regard to the training complex.

“I think it's a very good move and it's a reason to be optimistic, let's just hope that we can continue reasons to be optimistic on the pitch.”

Now that they fully own the Accu Stadium, Huddersfield Town can begin to plot how they’re going to use their new asset to bring in extra revenue for the football club.

In an interview with BBC Sport, the Terriers’ chief executive, Jake Edwards, discussed the potential for an on-site hotel to be introduced, which would allow a unique experience for matchday and non-matchday guests.

Edwards also mentioned concerts and conferences as other main revenue sources, which will all collectively help Huddersfield become more competitive as a football club.

Given how tight the competition is in the EFL, bringing any extra money into the club is critical to success and stadiums are often one of the main ways that teams throughout the divisions make a lot of capital.

With Town investing heavily both on and off the pitch, all that’s left to do now is for the team to secure promotion back up to the Championship. Once there, the Yorkshire outfit can go about asserting themselves in the second-tier again, with an ultimate view of returning to the Premier League.
