Amid suggestions that Mathys Tel could leave Bayern Munich before Monday’s deadline, the French forward was left out of the Rekordmeister’s squad for the Bundesliga win against Holstein Kiel on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to Sky Germany prior to the game, Christoph Freund suggested that it’s still possible that Tel will remain a Bayern Munich player come Tuesday.

“That is absolutely realistic,” said Freund. “Mathys is extremely connected to the club. He loves being here. It’s quite possible that he will still be a Bayern Munich player on Tuesday.”

This comes after Tel rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, but the French youth international’s future remains undecided. Florian Plettenberg reports that with Aston Villa closing in on the signing of Marcus Rashford, Manchester United are considering a loan move for Tel, but they would rather a player with more experience.

After signing a contract extension in March 2024 until June 2029, Bayern believe that Tel has a future at the club and although a key player for Thomas Tuchel towards the end of last season, the former Rennes forward has found minutes hard to come by under Vincet Kompany this season, playing 253 of them in the Bundesliga across eight games – starting just two of them – and is yet to score.
