There is ‘no chance’ Rasmus Hojlund will ever get the opportunity to play in a Manchester United shirt again.
While the forward’s move to Napoli is only a temporary one via a season-long loan, it’s essentially nailed on that the transfer will be made permanent in the coming months.

The Naples outfit aren’t planning to wait until the end of the season to shell out Hojlund’s £38 million buy clause, and United are more than willing to facilitate his exit – even amidst his improved run of form.
Last season, he managed only four Premier League goals in 32 appearances across the term. Such a return meant it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when INEOS began pushing for Hojlund’s departure, especially given that it was his sophomore campaign in England and he’d already had a year to transition.
He’s now halfway to levelling his league goal tally for 2024/2025 in 25 fewer appearances, scoring twice in his first seven outings in Serie A. The Dane has also found the back of the net twice in three Champions League games.
Of course, with some loans, there’s an expectation that the player would perhaps get the chance to prove themself with their parent clubs once again.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that won’t be the case with Hojlund, though, and his Red Devils tenure will indeed be cut short.
“It’s completely over between Manchester United and Rasmus Hojlund. There is no chance of him coming back. The expectation is for Napoli to sign him on a permanent deal,” said Romano on YouTube today.
The 22-year-old signed for United in 2023 in a £72 million deal from Atalanta. He’ll leave with a record of 26 goals and six assists in 95 appearances across all competitions.
