An ideal time in the heart of the festive season to get a snapshot of views from Newcastle United fans on how they think things are going.

So we sent out various questions to a small number of regular/irregular contributors to The Mag.

Asking these Newcastle United fans some of the important questions of the day.

As well as some with a seasonal twist.

Here we have Bazoox giving his answers:

What would be a perfect Newcastle United Christmas present to unwrap?

A perfect belated Newcastle United Christmas present would be for us to bring in an exciting right-sided forward this January. This Bakayoko of PSV is sounding good.

In 2024, what have been your three best Newcastle United moments?

My best moment of 2024 would be easily beating EFL Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the FA Cup 3rd Round. What made it even better was that they bent over backwards to accommodate their superior Geordie ‘friends’ by giving us their home end and Black Cats Bar.

The 4-0 thrashing of Spurs was another highlight. This lot must hate coming to St James’ Park.

I’d say the win over Arsenal a couple of months ago has given me the most satisfaction so far this season.

Oh and not forgetting Dan Ashworth getting the boot after five months at Man Utd. That was tremendous.

In 2024 what have been your three worst Newcastle United moments?

The three worst moments of the year included Man Utd finishing below us in the EPL, yet still pipping us for a European place by upsetting the odds against Man City in the FA Cup Final.

Sven Botman’s cruciate ligament injury was a big blow.

I also wasn’t happy this season losing cheaply at home to both Brighton and West Ham.

Once we get Christmas out of the way, the Newcastle United hierarchy have promised an update early in the New Year, regarding what their plans are for delivering a significantly bigger/better stadium. What do you hope they say? (Not just whether staying at SJP or new site but also capacity, timescale, progress they might have made on the quiet regarding their plans, whatever)

I want the owners to build a new state of the art stadium, hopefully and preferably on Castle Leazes/Leazes Park.

We have outgrown St James’ Park, it is outdated and we are going to need at least a 75K capacity.

The 2025/26 season will be the tenth since Newcastle United last had a Premier League derby match. Have you any seasonal black and white goodwill for our Mackem friends finally making it back to the top tier, from what looks the most appalling quality second tier for many years. Or even just because the amusing FA Cup stroll on Wearside last season whetted your appetite for the return of the derbies?

I have no goodwill whatsoever for Sunderland AFC. I definitely don’t want them back in the Premier League.

If you could guarantee five NUFC players to be fit for the rest of the season (including all those currently unavailable), who would you choose and in what order?

The five players we need to stay fit are Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon, Sandra Tonali and Fabian Schar.

If you could invite three current Newcastle United players to yours for a social gathering at Christmas, who would you invite and why?

The three current Newcastle players that I would most like to invite around for Christmas would be Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Miguel Almiron.

Flash is an intelligent lad, Alex seems as if he’s a gent and Miggy is a happy and smiley little chap.

If you could invite three Newcastle United connected people, past or present, around to yours for a social gathering at Christmas, who would you invite and why? Thinking of fans (famous or not), past (not present) players, managers, owners, whoever.

First on the list would be the Messiah himself, Kevin Keegan. What he has done for Newcastle United both as a player and manager was absolutely remarkable. The man also oozes charm and charisma.

Supermac would be next. Simply the best and most exciting centre forward United have had in the last 50 years. He’s also canny cràic.

Out of our deceased former heroes I would have loved to have had, the gentleman that was Wor Jackie Milburn, around for Christmas Day.

A knock on your door on Christmas Day, your place beautifully Xmas decorated, roaring fire, table laden with more food and drink than anybody could eat and drink. You open the door and freezing cold, snow bleaching down, which three cold and starving Newcastle United connected characters (past or present) would you still turn away?

The three people associated with Newcastle United who I wouldn’t want to spend any time at Christmas with, are Mike Ashley, Alan Shearer and the singer and “so-called lifelong Toon fan” Sting.

Assuming you don’t think that position has been reached already… what would it take for you to think Newcastle United needed to consider replacing Eddie Howe?

I’ve no doubt Eddie’s position will be reviewed at the end of this season.

Qualifying for Europe, one way or another, will have been his remit at the start of this season.

If you were granted three New Year’s wishes (apart from the obvious of winning something!) to come true in 2025…

My three New Year’s wishes would be firstly for Alexander Isak to sign a new contract.

Then for him to be the Premier League’s top scorer and win the Golden Boot.

Finally I would like to see the current PSR and Regulations completely amended so that we can compete with the cartel.

Your New Year’s resolution that is Newcastle United related…?

My Toon related New Year’s resolution is to keep calmer whenever situations are seemingly conspiring to go against us, on and off the pitch.

Win the FA Cup or League Cup sometime in the next five years AND finish between 8th and 10th in each of these five seasons, or win nothing AND finish between 2nd and 4th in every one of these five seasons?

This is a difficult question to answer for me because I desperately want us to win silverware soon.

I’d have to plump with regularly finishing in the Champions League places though, for the extreme revenue that would bring in to make us stronger.

What are your worst ever past Newcastle United Christmas time moments / memories. Could be any kind of memories – matches, presents, whatever?

I haven’t really had any real bad NUFC Christmas moments. I’d obviously have liked to have seen us win more Boxing Day fixtures in my lifetime though.

It’s daft asking me that.

I’d never want the mackems to win anything. The Papa John’s Pizza Cup is the best they can ever hope for.

In your lifetime, the five people associated with Newcastle United (anybody, on or of the pitch, inside or outside the club) who you would like to say thank you to and why?

My five thank yous would be to…

Kevin Keegan, for reasons I’ve already mentioned.

To Liam O’Brien for giving me one of my greatest ever NUFC moments at Roker Park in 1992.

Paul Cannell for always sticking by me, even if sometimes in the past I have been hasty and too hot-headed.

The Honorable Chris Hughton for helping to restore our pride back in the 2009/10 Championship winning season.

And finally, Amanda Staveley for never giving up in her quest to free the club of the evil Ashley, and helping broker the deal to ensure proper investment from the Saudi PIF and the Reubens.
