Mikel Arteta says it is “impossible” not to feel love towards his Arsenal players.
The Gunners take on north London rivals Spurs on Sunday, looking to bounce back after giving up a two-goal lead to draw with Wolves on Wednesday.
And ahead of the game, Arteta says he has not felt anger towards his players, but instead is eager to support them.
“The way I interact with them, the way I communicate with them, the way I try to support them and make them feel that I’m here, that we are all here, it’s not that I love them, we love them, because it’s impossible not to,” the Gunners boss said.
“When you are 10 minutes in that dressing room, in and around the building and you interact with them, it is impossible not to, believe me. Even if you try hard, I think they will win you.”
Arteta was also asked about the accusation of being “bottlers”, responding: “That’s individual opinion, perspective, and you have to respect that.
“I mean, that’s what I said after in the press conference. You lose two points against Wolves in the manner that the game played out, you have to take it on the chin. That’s it, it’s part of our role.
“It’s not part of my vocabulary and I don’t see it like this because I don’t think anybody wants to do that as an intention. But I wouldn’t use that word, but that’s me.”
