FLW's Huddersfield Town fan pundit has reviewed Alfie May's time at the Accu Stadium since making the switch from Birmingham City
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Just over six months have passed since Huddersfield Town signed League One goal machine Alfie May, and it's safe to say that both May and the Terriers haven't enjoyed the season many expected them to have.
Huddersfield are still sat in the top six, but their project manager in Lee Grant was sacked midway through January, and replaced by Liam Manning, who has won all three of his games in the Accu Stadium dugout to open up a six-point gap on the chasing pack for the play-offs.
As for May, the man who had scored 82 goals across the last four third tier campaigns for the likes of Cheltenham Town, Charlton Athlertic and Birmingham City, has managed just five in 26 this season, along with three assists, and has been sent off twice.
The latter was in controversial circumstances, as the 32-year-old was adjudged to have committed an act of violent conduct when he grabbed at the hair of Luton Town's Kasey Palmer.
But, after a failed appeal, May has been forced to miss four league games, next being available for the home game on February 21 against Barnsley.
It's been a stop/start campaign for May in difficult circumstances, and FLW's Huddersfield fan pundit, Greame Rayner, has sympathised with that, and looks forward to seeing him properly under Manning upon his return.

Rayner has respect for May, and realises that the frustration that so many Huddersfield fans have expressed through the majority of the campaign under former manager Lee Grant was reflected in his performances.
Under Grant, the 32-year-old Poacher was being made to play a lot deeper than where he'd usually thrive, hence the lower-than-usual goal return.
"Alfie May has probably been as frustrated as everyone by his time at the club so far," Rayner said.
"He's scored five, assisted three in 26 league games, which by his standards is a poor return, but I'd say that it's not all on him.
"There have been some chances that he should have put away, but under Lee Grant particularly, he was playing out of position, whether by design or due to how the game was flowing, and we weren't creating the chances or giving him the service that he'd want and would thrive off."
Despite a disappointing campaign so far for his lofty standards, May has provided a lot of fight during his time at the club, which has endeared him to the Huddersfield fans, even if it has, at times, resulted in red cards.
Although the majority of the Terriers fan base are in agreement that the recent red card against Luton was harsh, and they're all excited to see how May performs under new boss Liam Manning when given an extended run in the team.
"I think most Town fans rate him," the fan pundit continued. "We like his endeavour, effort, attitude and desire to win, and that he is frustrated when we are not winning.
"I think he might thrive under Liam Manning, but we've unfortunately had the ridiculous decision to ban him for four games for the incident with Kasey Palmer.
"I don't think it's an intentional hair pull, and it's definitely not a case of violent conduct. A four-match ban for that is laughable.
"Hopefully, when he comes back, he'll have a decent number of games left, and he can bump up that goal return to fire us into the play-offs, or better."

The frustration surrounding May this season has been mainly down to the fact that he comes with such high expectations. £1.2 million was spent on the 32-year-old in the summer, as FLW exclusively revealed, with the sole belief that he'd be able to fire Huddersfield back to the Championship with his goals.
It never worked out for May in Lee Grant's system, and under Liam Manning, it's yet to be seen, as he was withdrawn shortly after Marcus McGuane's red card in his first game against Bradford City, and then dismissed after half an hour in the following outing against Luton.
Now, Terriers fans have to wait even longer for the free-scoring 32-year-old to return, of which then he'll hopefully have 13 uninterrupted games remaining to get his goalscoirng tally close to what he's exhibited in the past four seasons.
For the time being, however, it's all about the waiting game. May has clearly been given the benefit of the doubt by Huddersfield supporters, and they're hoping that he can come good towards the tail end of the campaign.
