Salah is one of the best players to ever play in the Premier League, but things didn’t go to plan for him during his time at Chelsea.
The Egyptian was part of the same squad as Eden Hazard, but only managed two goals and three assists in 19 appearances.
The Blues do now have a new star man in Cole Palmer, who’s been brilliant since joining from Manchester City in the summer of 2023.
Palmer has scored 53 goals and registered 32 assists in 118 appearances, which is quite some return and despite that attacking talent at the club he’s very much the jewel in the crown.
The 23-year-old hasn’t been able to reach the heights of his first season, but Howard believes he can provide the goal contributions Salah has for many years at Anfield.
“I had him sort of picked as like the best player in the Premier League, which, which, you know,” he told The Unfiltered Soccer Podcast.
“It’s a wild thing to say, but if you go back like a season and a half where he scored 20 plus goals and you’re thinking he can easily be, you know, what Mo Salah is to Liverpool, like Cole Palmer is that to Chelsea.
“I mean, two massive clubs. So like, so it’s not far-fetched to say he is or has the ability to be the best player in the Premier League.
“I mean, he’s shown that, he’s shown that. Now can you do that on a consistent basis?”
Despite missing virtually the entire first half of the campaign with a groin injury, Palmer has still managed to provide a respectable return.
His goal against Aston Villa was his ninth league goal of the season, and there are still nine games left for him to add to that tally.

There are signs of a positive partnership forming with Joao Pedro, and if Chelsea are going to achieve their goals this season those two will play a huge part.
