With their contracts expiring, Raphael Guerreiro and Leon Goretzka left FC Bayern this summer, and Alexander Nübel had already moved on, signing with Besiktas. Now, the record champions have confirmed their next deal.

As FC Bayern announced on Monday , Jonathan Asp Jensen is also leaving the club. He had been in negotiations with Deportivo La Coruña for quite some time. The La Liga newcomer had recently reached an agreement with FC Bayern as well.

Previously, Lazio was considered the leading candidate for a transfer, but the Laziali’s offer was not enough to convince FC Bayern’s management.

Asp Jensen brings in millions

The Dane, who was most recently on loan to Grasshoppers in Zurich, is generating solid revenue in the millions. Reports vary slightly, but six to seven million euros are expected to flow into the record champions’ account.

“Jonny is yet another example of how young talents can continuously develop at FC Bayern. Since his arrival at the campus, he has worked with great ambition toward his path to professional soccer and has steadily improved in our youth teams. With a strong debut season in the Swiss first division, he has taken the next important step,” explained Jochen Sauer, Director of Youth Development in Munich.

He continued: “It’s a well-deserved reward that he’s now joining a club in Spain’s top division, where he can prove himself at the highest level. We’ll continue to follow his development.”

It is clearly part of the record champion’s strategy to sign young talents and eventually sell them at a profit—especially when it becomes apparent that, while they possess the necessary qualities, the path to Bayern’s first team is a long one.

Asp Jensen has performed very well in Switzerland, even in a challenging environment. That’s why he likely has what it takes to help the team in its relegation battle in Spain. Meanwhile, FCB does not have a buyback option for the Dane.
