It’s official! Zaragoza is leaving FC Bayern | OneFootball

FC Bayern has officially confirmed another departure. Bryan Zaragoza will leave the German record champions and join Espanyol Barcelona for the upcoming season. However, the Spanish forward is not transferring permanently, but rather on loan.

As FC Bayern officially announced, Bryan Zaragoza will be loaned to Espanyol Barcelona for one season. This gives the Spanish first-division club the opportunity to sign the attacking player for the upcoming season.

For Zaragoza, on the other hand, this presents an opportunity to play regularly at the highest level again. At Bayern, the winger had recently lacked clear prospects in Vincent Kompany’s professional squad.

“Bryan has gained a variety of experiences over the past two years at his various clubs. He will now continue his development in the familiar environment of La Liga,” explained Christoph Freund.

Return to Spain

Zaragoza had joined Munich from FC Granada in the winter of 2024. After playing seven games for Munich, he was loaned out first to CA Osasuna, then to Celta Vigo, and finally to Italy to further his development. Now, the 24-year-old is joining Espanyol Barcelona.

FC Bayern had originally signed the Spaniard with high expectations. At Granada, Zaragoza was regarded as a technically gifted and skilled dribbler on offense, but he was rarely able to showcase his qualities over an extended period with the German record champions.

Competition on the offensive wings is also fierce. With players like Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, Serge Gnabry, and Lennart Karl, Kompany has several top-tier options at his disposal. It would therefore have been difficult for Zaragoza to secure regular playing time.

Espanyol could be just the right fit for the 24-year-old. In Barcelona, Zaragoza is likely to have significantly better chances of getting regular playing time while also making a name for himself in his home league.

For Bayern, meanwhile, the loan means that another player is being removed from the payroll and the immediate first-team roster. At the same time, Zaragoza remains under contract with the Munich club.
