Stade Brestois will have to mount an impressive comeback against Paris Saint-Germain this evening if they hope to reach the Champions League Round of 16. Eric Roy’s men travel to the Parc des Princes needing to overturn a wide deficit after they lost the first leg 3-0.

It’s no small task for the Bretons who have not managed to defeat PSG in any of their last 31 meetings. Les Parisiens have not yet lost to French opposition this year and are currently undefeated in both the league and domestic cup.

However, despite the odds being against Brest, Roy will not arrive in the capital without hope. The head coach recognises the hard task ahead of him but has stressed that his squad are still in this contest and looked to his own personal history as a player to make the point.

Roy told reporters “You must not know too much about my career but I played a game where I was losing 4-0 at halftime and we won 5-4. So for me, 3-0 with 90 minutes left rather than 45 minutes let’s say that’s something within my capabilities. If I can pass it on to my players, you never know.”

Roy was referencing his time at Olympique de Marseille when they completed an astonishing second-half comeback against Montpellier HSC in the 1998/99 season.
