Iván Azón is set to join Getafe this season. Di Marzio reports the deal is closed and the forward will play at the Coliseum, although it is not yet confirmed whether Getafe will have an option to buy.

Azón joined Como 1907 in the winter window of 24/25 for two million euros. His time in Italy did not go as hoped, and fitness issues meant he never made an official debut. He spent the second half of that season in their squad.

He then moved to Ipswich Town on loan last summer, featuring through the last campaign. The Spaniard produced five goals and four assists in 38 matches in the English second division.

Since leaving Real Zaragoza, he has repeatedly been linked with Valencia CF. The first approach came just before his Como switch, when Valencia had an agreement with the player but ultimately signed Umar Sadiq to revive a poor season. The second came last summer, when Carlos Corberán’s side again needed a striker after Sadiq returned to Real Sociedad, yet Azón headed to England.

Beyond Valencia, CA Osasuna also pushed for him in that winter window two seasons ago. A few months later Getafe targeted him too.

With Uche injured and potential departures for Borja Mayoral and Juanmi, his arrival broadens Bordalás’s attacking options just hours before the transfer deadline.
