Ivan Chishkala ‘to join’ Sporting after brief Torpedo spell

A Bola reports that Ivan Chishkala is set to join Sporting in the coming days, leaving Torpedo to become another option for Nuno Dias for the remainder of the season.

He is due to bid farewell to the Russian club on Sunday, 11 January, then return to Portugal after half a season to wear Sporting’s colours.

His short stay in Russia was used to navigate the non-aggression pact that exists between the Lisbon rivals across their sports sections. With this scenario planned, he did not sell his home in Portugal.

Sporting will not pay a fee. FIFA sanctions on Russia following the invasion of Ukraine allow athletes to leave without cost.

The Russia international spent five seasons at Benfica, lifting several trophies, most recently the Liga Placard 2024/25. In his half-season with Torpedo, the winger scored 17 goals in 22 matches.
