On-loan FC Porto forward Iván Jaime has declared himself "1000% sure" about his Montréal future as he nears an MLS return.

"I have great confidence in myself and I know they will buy me. I will stay as long as needed, everything will go well, I am optimistic and I believe it will be an excellent year for everyone," he told Réseau des Sports.

"For me, it is a big challenge, I am very grateful to be here and to start from zero," he said, adding he had lived "the worst year of my career" in 2025. "I liked the league, I felt comfortable, with many chances to score and assist. Many European players, especially Spaniards, want to come here, I even know some."

His progress was halted by injury after six matches, coinciding with the end of last season. MLS restarted last weekend and he was on the bench against San Diego. Club chief executive Luca Saputo voiced strong faith in him and expects a big season, praising his attitude since joining.

The loan includes an automatic 5.5 million euros purchase clause if he plays at least 45 minutes in 60% of matches by 30 June this year, with Montréal taking 80% of his rights. He currently has 45 minutes or more in 42% of games, with 14 fixtures remaining in the loan spell.
