Iván Jaime has opened his North American chapter with encouraging signs, the FC Porto loanee settling quickly at CF Montréal and registering an assist across his first two MLS matches.
According to Superdeporte, the loan was finalised on 22 August 2025 and runs until 30 June 2026, with an option for the Canadian club to buy. After a testing spell in Europe, the move offers a chance to relaunch his career.
The Málaga-born attacking midfielder has already influenced Montréal’s build-up, setting up a goal against New York Red Bulls and featuring in a defeat to Chicago Fire FC.
His adaptation to MLS appears swift. In an increasingly competitive league with open play, he could find the platform to regain rhythm and prominence.
At Porto he struggled to secure regular minutes, hampered by fierce competition and fitness setbacks, and never fully settled in the side.
A winter-window stint at Valencia CF brought only 10 appearances, with just two full 90-minute outings, as injuries and rotation limited his impact.
Sustained game time in Montréal could prove a turning point. If he maintains early levels, he might earn a starting role and persuade the club to trigger the option.
