Premier League mainstays Brighton have experienced an upward growth in recent years. Thus, Juric has conveyed Southampton to learn from them to find themselves in their shoes one day.
The Premier League has mostly been dominated by the Big Six clubs in previous decades. Naturally, it's assumed that all of them would occupy the European spots every season still that rarely happens.
While occasional inconsistency plays a good role, a big factor behind that is the rise of mid-table contenders.
These teams don't have a wealth of elite stars in their roster but their squad planning allows them to travel the extra mile in this regard. This strategy has been proven to work wonders in the top flight with Aston Villa, Brighton and Nottingham Forest reaping their rewards with their on-field results.
Speaking about Southampton, the Saints also saw a steadfast rise from the trenches of relegation to the glorious European nights in a similar manner. In comparison to them, the present senior team reflects a steep downward slump the club has taken in their squad management approach.
Now, Ivan Juric has advised the Southampton board to address that area to become a dominant Premier League outfit again. In doing so, he took today's opponents Brighton's effective formula as a reference for the long-term project.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, Juric said: "Every year they became better. They always put better players in and they can invest lots of money to create the big team."
Further, Juric's emphasis on quality performers speaks volumes of Brighton's recruitment process. To give an idea, even the Saints spent a large chunk of their transfer funds on the likes of Ben Brereton Diaz, Adam Armstrong and Ross Stewart but didn't see much success.
So far, it's wise to acknowledge that the trio haven't justified those massive transfer fees, especially in the Premier League.
